INSTRUCTIONS: VOLLEYBALL DUEL!

There's 2 ways to play:

1)  2-5 Players (Individual)

2) Team Play - 2v2 (See bottom)

Object:  After 7 rounds, the player with the most kills is the winner.

The Cards: The deck consists of two types of cards:  Kill Cards (7) and Game Cards (55). Kill Cards have a blue back, while Game Cards have an orange back. Additionally, there are two white cards that provide quick-start information on basic rules and gameplay. The Game Cards include Ball Cards, Foul Cards, and Swipe Cards.

Playing Cards Properly:  Each 'Ball Card' contains one-quarter of two different colored volleyballs (one top and one bottom). On your turn, you must properly connect the cards so that all sides match. If you are unable to play, you must discard a card from your hand.

Reveal the Round 1 - Kill Card#1:

Shuffle the 7 Kill Cards (blue back) and then turn over the top card to reveal goal for Kill #1.  The object of the first round is to be the first player or team to complete the ball or any of the balls (the round goal) shown on the Kill Card . Some Kill Cards show only 1 ball, some show 2 balls, and some show "Wild", which means the first player (or team) to complete any of the 5 balls wins the Kill.

The player (or team) who wins the hole, keeps the Kill Card as a means to track their score.

Shuffle/Deal Game Cards:

Shuffle the 55 Game Cards (orange back) and deal four to each player. Players should hold their cards in a way that prevents opponents from seeing them. Place the remaining Game Cards face down in the center of the table to form the Draw Pile.

Rules: 2-5 Players (Individual)

Starting the Game (Round 1):
The youngest player goes first, and turns proceed clockwise. At the start of each turn, draw one card from the Draw Pile or may take a discarded Ball card if at the top of the Discard Pile. On your first turn, you may select any Ball Card to be your 'Start' card. Place this card face up in front of you to begin your Play Area. Ensure there is enough space around your Start Card, as you will be connecting additional cards to your Play Area throughout the game. Keep in mind, the object is to complete the ball (or one of the balls) on the round's Kill Card!

Playing the Game:

After the 'Start' turn, you must properly connect a Ball Card, either vertically or horizontally, to your play area as you work to complete one of the five colored volleyballs (by connecting all 4 pieces correctly) - with your obvious goal being to complete the ball(s) featured on the current Kill Card . If you are unable to play a card in your play area, you must discard any card from your hand to the Discard Pile, located next to the Draw Pile.

Once a card is played, it cannot be moved to another spot unless an opponent uses a 'Swipe' play. If you need more space on the table, you may adjust your cards, but they must remain in the same relative positions.

After playing one card, your turn ends, and the next player takes their turn. Turns proceed in a clockwise rotation around the table.

Play until one player (or team) completes the ball on the Kill Card first. That player wins the round, and scores the KILL. See below for sample.

FOUL! Cards:

On your turn, you may play an 'FOUL! Card,' which allows you to select any other player (or team) and they are forced to skip their next turn. If you're playing 1 vs 2 (or 2 player game), play this card, then go again (play next turn) since the opponent's turn is skipped.

Swipe Cards:

On your turn, you may play a 'Swipe Card' to take an opponent’s played down Ball Card then use it to connect to your play area. Cards in an opponent's hand are protected and cannot be Swiped.  Most of the Swipes cards mention one particular Ball, such as "Swipe: The Red Ball".  There is one "Swipe Wild" which allows you to swipe any Ball Card.  In the example below, the Swipe Red Ball card is played by Player 1.  If any of your opponents have played down any ball card that contains part of the red ball, you may swipe it, then play the card on your play area.

Winning the Kill (Round):

Once the first Kill is won, the winner keeps the Kill Card so they can keep track of their Kills!  Collect all the game cards, shuffle, then deal 4 cards to each player - just as we did before when we started the game.  Reveal the next Kill Card, and this becomes Kill #2.  The player who was going to be the next turn (just before a player won the prior Kill) gets to start this round (this Kill). Keep the turn order in tact as it provides fairness.  This starts Round 2.

End of the Game & Winning:

After completing 7 Kills (rounds), tally up the player who has the most Kills, and that is the winner of the game!

Sudden Death: If there is a tie, shuffle only the Kill Cards, spread them out face down on the table.  The tied players take turns drawing one card from the table, turning it over the reveal their card. The first player to draw a "Wild" card is the winner!

Team Play - 2 verses 2

It is recommended to play at least 1 round using "Individual" Play so you can understand the rules and game flow.

Rules for Team Play:

  1. You must sit across from your teammate so turns alternate between teams.

  2. On your turn, you may play on your play area or your teammate's play area. If you cannot play on either, you must discard a card to the discard pile.

  3. When you play a 'Swipe' Card, you may swipe a card from either opponent and then play on your play area or your teammate's play area.

  4. The first player to complete the round's KILL CARD first gives the TEAM the win.

  5. Play 7 rounds, and the TEAM with most KILLS is the winner of the game.
